A Cultural Renaissance Around the Place

After more than twenty years of closure, the Notre-Dame Church of Saint-Chamond has reopened its doors as a vibrant cultural space, hosting concerts, contemporary creations, and participatory events.

In this context, Julien Nonnon's video mapping is not just a light projection: it is ameeting between the history of the building and digital art, offering the public aunique visual and emotional experience.

Video Mapping as a Tool for Expression in Public Space

Video mapping involves projecting digital images onto architectural surfaces while playing with their volumes and textures. This technique transforms mundane or historical facades intodynamic canvases, creating visual illusions that interact with the urban space and its audience.

For Nonnon, mapping is not just a simple animation: it becomes aform of art in itself, where light, movement, and the surface of the building complement each other to tell a story or evoke an emotion.

In front of the spectators, the heritage building came to life withpatterns, colors, and visual narratives, inviting the audience to experience a total immersion in a unique artistic universe.

This artistic approach not only highlighted the architecture of the church but alsocreated a strong collective moment, bringing together locals, art lovers, and the curious around a powerful visual experience.
